Frequently Asked Questions?

Biokinetics is defined as the science of movement through the application of exercise in rehabilitative treatment. Biokineticists are medical professionals that use physical activity as therapeutic treatment for various conditions. We aim to improve a patients’ functional ability to improve their quality of life and/or performance after injury. This is achieved through scientifically based exercise programs, taking into account current physical ability, condition and goals, in order to treat and/ or prevent chronic & metabolic diseases, orthopaedic conditions and sports injuries.

Your initial assessment will vary, depending on the type of injury/condition you are coming in for. Your first visit will be a ±60 min specific assessment to determine the nature and extent of your injury. This is a physical evaluation designed to test your current level of function, that consists of flexibility, strength, and movement testing. This will help us determine the best rehabilitation programme to get you back to doing the activities you value.

Biokineticists are health professionals registered with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa. Therefore, our sessions do generally get covered by the medical aid. This is, however, dependent on your specific medical aid plan and cover. In some cases, your Biokinetics session fees will be deducted from your medical savings account, along with all other *Allied Health Professional sessions.

TMBio is a cash practice. The patients pay the practice directly and we then provide a claim statement. We also offer the service of claiming for sessions on your behalf after payments has been made.

This varies depending on several factors. Your age, injury or chronic condition history and severity, compliance to rehab sessions etc., all determine your rate of recovery and how quickly you will see results. The timeframe will be discussed with your Bio after your initial assessment.
